MSR Traffic’s Car Counting System uses ultrasonic FLOWI sensor to determine the number of occupied/vacant spots in a car park.

Two sensor groups mounted on a sensor bar continuously determine the distance between the vehicle and the sensor itself. When a vehicle passes underneath a sensor, it typically results in a height profile.

The FLOWI sensor also enables reliable direction recognition and the differentiation of two vehicles driving close behind each other.

The vehicle detection algorithm runs in real time. The information is transmitted to a counting device via two relays or can be queried via the serial interface to the PGCC.

Mounting Height

The drive-through sensor for vehicle counting is mounted on the ceiling parallel to the floor at a distance of two to three metres, like a fluorescent lamp. If the ceiling height is greater than three metres, the sensor is suspended to a height of less than three metres. The passageway must be designed in such a way that the vehicle can be detected by the sensor.

Your advantages

  •  Perfect for car parks where only a summary of vacant spots are required (cheaper solution compared to individual bay monitoring)
  •  Real-time vehicle detection
  •  Reliable direction recognition
